Recently ended lengthy tours from Paul McCartney & Katy Perry also dot the tally.
As the fourth quarter of 2015 nears the halfway mark, the year’s highest-grossing tours are either in the homestretch or have already called it a wrap. Both are included on this week’s Hot Tours recap (see list, below), which ranks the highest collective tour grosses reported during the past week.
One Direction, No. 1 on the tally based on $20.2 million in reported ticket sales, heads up the list of artists who have already wrapped for the year. The pop group’s On the Road Again trek began Feb. 7 and closed at the end of October. British pop star Robbie Williams (No. 4) launched his Let Me Entertain You trek seven weeks later and wrapped on Nov. 3.
Others are shuttering a multiple-year effort. Katy Perry (No. 5), Paul McCartney (No. 6) and KISS (No. 9) all concluded tours that began in previous years. Perry’s Prismatic trek began in May of last year and finished on Oct. 18 in Costa Rica. Sir Paul’s Out There tour ran for almost two-and-a-half years, closing on Oct. 22 in Buffalo, N.Y., the last stop on the tour’s fifth leg through North American markets. Iconic rock band KISS debuted its 40th anniversary world tour in 2014 and closed it last month with a final stint in Australia and New Zealand.
