Jill Scott

Jill Scott is heading toward her second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, as her latest release, Woman, is on track to debut atop the list. Industry forecasters suggest the album -- which was released on July 24 through Blues Babe Records/Atlantic Records -- could move over 55,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 30.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Billboard 200 chart (dated Aug. 15) is scheduled to see its top 10 revealed on Billboard’s Web sites on Sunday, Aug. 2.

Jill Scott Returns With New Album 'Woman'

Woman is Scott’s first studio album since 2011’s The Light of the Sun, which also marked her first No. 1. It launched with 135,000 sold in its first week. Scott arrived on the Billboard 200 almost exactly 15 years ago, when her debut effort Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1 bowed on the charted dated Aug. 5, 2000. It would peak at No. 17 the following year, the first of so far seven top 40 efforts for the three-time Grammy Award winner.

Other albums heading for possible top 10 debuts on the Billboard 200 include Lamb of God’s VII: Sturm Und Drang (with perhaps 45,000 units) and the soundtrack to Southpaw (40,000).
