British singer/producer Jack Garratt continues his rise on the Billboard + Twitter Emerging Artists chart with "Weathered" (47-20), which blends introspective songwriting with subdued electronic production. The song caught the attention of OneRepublic, which tweeted July 3 that the track is "the most amazing new song" it's heard "in a long while." Garratt released the EP Synesthesiac on Island in April. A full-length is rumored to arrive in 2016. –Trevor Anderson (@tanderson5569)
Olivia Lane is bubbling under the Country Airplay chart with the plucky "You Part 2" (Big Spark). The cut earned a 17 percent gain in audience for the week ending July 19, according to Nielsen Music. Lane, who turned 24 on July 26, graduated from the University of Southern California in 2013 and moved to Nashville soon after to pursue her music career. –Keith Caulfield (@keith_caulfield)
