Beck Leads Adult Alternative, Fort Minor & Disturbed Return to Charts

Peter Hapak
Beck

Beck scores his second leader on Adult Alternative Songs as “Dreams” rockets 7-1 in just its second week on the tally (dated July 11). "Dreams" makes the fastest flight to No. 1 on the list since Dave Matthews Band’s “Funny The Way It Is” ascended in just two weeks in 2009.

Beck Debuts on Rock Charts

Beck scored his first leader on Adult Alternative Songs just last year with “Blue Moon,” a single from his most recent album, Morning Phase (which won the Grammy for album of the year). The funky new song will precede his 10th studio album and also lifts 13-6 on Alternative Songs.

‘Welcome’ Back: Fort Minor, the rap/rock side project of Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, blasts onto Hot Rock Songs at No. 16 with “Welcome,” selling 17,000 downloads.

This is Shinoda’s first release as Fort Minor since 2006 and first entry on the list (which began in 2009). Fort Minor previously reached as high as No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Where’d You Go” in 2006. Shinoda has said a new album is possible and he will perform as Fort Minor, but no release has been announced beyond the new song.

Return With A Vengence: Just below Fort Minor on the list, Disturbed debuts at No. 17 with “The Vengeful One.” The rock band is also returning from a hiatus, releasing its first song in four years.  The band previously debuted as high as No. 8 on the list in 2010 with “Another Way To Die,” which was also its only No. 1 on the tally.

“The Vengeful One” also has a high start on Mainstream Rock Songs (No. 11) where it has led the list three times. It’s also the hard rock group’s highest start since “Another Way to Die.” The new track leads Hard Rock Digital Songs with 15,000 sold.

Disturbed will release its sixth studio album, Immortalized, on August 21.
