Dance Club Songs
*** No. 1 (1 week)***/Greatest Gainer "Rolling In The Deep (The Aretha Version)" Aretha Franklin
The legendary Aretha Franklin returns to the top of Dance Club Songs for the first time in more than 16 years, as her cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" jumps 2-1. She'd last led with "Here We Go Again" in August 1998. Franklin notches her sixth No. 1; she first reigned in 1985 with "Freeway of Love" and "Who's Zoomin' Who." (Franklin also bests the No. 14 peak of Adele's original "Deep" on the chart.)

On Dec. 12, Billboard honored Franklin as 2014's Icon of the Year. "In 1980, she cooked dinner with me and we spent hours in her kitchen, trading music experiences and exploring whether we could collaborate to make future recordings," star-in-his-own-right Clive Davis said upon presenting her the award. "We hit it off and we've been making records ever since."
