Kem's 'Promise' Tops R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart

Detroit's Kem Explores Intimacy For 'Album III'

R&B singer Kem earns his second No. 1, while Eminem blasts onto Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with 'Guts Over Glory,' featuring Sia.

Kem collects his second No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums as Promise to Love: Album IV arrives with 52,000 units sold in the week ending Aug. 31, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The R&B singer last topped the list in 2005, when Album ll posted a similar 53,000 copies in its opening week.

The new set's first single, "It's You," debuts on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 49 -- his first track to land on the chart since "You're On My Mind" reached No. 25 in May 2012. The new bouncy love song steps 22-20 on Hot R&B Songs, marking his first track to appear since the chart's inception in October 2012.

'Guts' Goes For Glory: Eminem earns the top debut on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs as "Guts Over Fear," featuring Sia, enters at No. 6. The song was released on Aug. 25 following the announcement of a double-album compilation due on Nov. 24 titled Shady XV, celebrating the 15th anniversary of Eminem's label, Shady Records. "Guts" sold 134,000 digital downloads and also debuts at No. 3 on Rap Digital Songs. Its arrival on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs is largely driven by its digital sales, which comprise 80 percent of its chart points.

Iggy Collects Another Top 10: Iggy Azalea claims her fourth top 10 on the Rhythmic airplay chart as "Black Widow," featuring Rita Ora, hops 11-9 (up 12 percent to 2,935 plays, according to Nielsen BDS). Azalea has already reached No. 1 with two tracks this summer. Her own "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX, spent four weeks at the top after reaching its peak on June 14. Azalea was the featured act on Ariana Grande's "Problem" which crowned the chart for three weeks beginning July 12. "Black Widow" continues at No. 2 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a third week, rising 32 percent in digital sales (to 187,000 downloads).

G-Unit Unites: The original members of G-Unit reunite and earn the top debut on Rap Albums, arriving at No. 3 with the six-song EP The Beauty of Independence, shifting 14,000 copies. Founding members 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks and Young Buck (along with new G-Unit Records signee Kidd Kidd) dropped the surprise set on Aug. 25.

'Anaconda' Lengthens Record: Nicki Minaj extends her record as the female with the most top 10s on Rap Airplay as "Anaconda" slides 13-9. She has now tallied 17 top 10s and is five ahead of runner-up Eve (12). "Anaconda" takes the Greatest Gainer tag for a second consecutive week, rising 24 percent to 19.1 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. "Anaconda" concurrently takes Digital Gainer honors on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, where it spends a second week at No. 1 with 188,000 digital downloads sold (up 57 percent).

Drake Extends Top 10s: Drake's "0 to 100/The Catch Up" climbs 13-8 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, logging his 39th top 10. Drake maintains his second-place ranking for most top 10s in the 22-year history, inching closer to Lil Wayne's all-time mark. On Hot Rap Songs, the track climbs back into the top 10 (11-9), with a 4 percent gain in streaming to 2.1 million domestic clicks.
