Jennifer Lopez's 'First Love' Sparks Social 50 Chart Gain

As the promotion for Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming studio album "A.K.A." (due June 17) kicks into gear, the diva rises 19-11 on the Social 50 chart -- her highest rank in nearly two months.  

The Social 50 ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, Wikipedia, Myspace and Instagram. The chart's methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views, song plays and reactions as measured by music analytics company Next Big Sound.

The chart jump comes courtesy of the debut of Lopez’s single “First Love,” which saw its official lyric video bow on May 2. Lopez was last higher on the Social 50 chart dated March 29, when she was at No. 7, following the premiere of her "I Luh Ya Papi" video.

"First Love's" arrival spurred a 47 percent increase in retweets for Lopez’s official Twitter account (in the week ending May 4, according to Next Big Sound) and an 84 percent increase in mentions of her handle. She added 734,000 new fans to her overall fan base (up 28 percent from the previous week).

Lopez will be honored with the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards on May 18, where she will also give the premiere performances of two songs: the official anthem of the FIFA World Cup, “We Are One (Ole Ola)” (with Pitbull) and “First Love.”

Further down the Social 50, Little Mix re-enters at No. 38 after releasing the official music video for “Salute,” the third single from their album of the same name. The May 1 video release ushered in more than 7 million total views to the group’s Vevo channel, a 30 percent increase over the previous week. The fans were abuzz too, as a 243 percent jump in reactions during the week lead to the addition of 266,000 new fans.

Drake also re-enters, thanks to his gone-viral use of a lint roller. The rapper was caught on camera using a lint roller while sitting court side at a Nets vs Raptors game during the NBA playoffs on April 23, spurring curious headlines. Drake swiftly debuted his own limited edition OVO lint rollers that were handed out on Wednesday, April 30 during game five of the series. He took to Twitter to make the announcement, sparking a 68 percent increase in weekly mentions of his handle on Twitter to allow for a re-entry at No. 45.

Recapping the top 10, Justin Bieber and Shakira continue their standoff at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively for the ninth week in a row. Ariana Grande rises 4-3, as Rihanna also climbs 5-4. One Direction jumps 12-5, causing Katy Perry to slide 3-6 while Beyonce remains at No. 7. Taylor Swift also dips (6-8) as Bob Marley rises 10-9, switching places with Eminem (9-10).
