Hey Gary,

I hope it's not too late for some comments about album tracks that should've been released as singles.

First off, I love a previous e-mailer's suggestion (and your seconding) of

Hi Gary,

I've been reading the Chart Beat column for quite awhile now and the continuing topic of album cuts that should've been singles caught my eye. As Jan. 31 was the 61st birthday of one of my favorite artists,

Hi Gary,

I have to say that I was very impressed with Miley Cyrus' 2010 album "Can't Be Tamed." Easily the best song on the album is "Two More Lonely People." I was hoping that it would get released as a single. I think it is the best song that Roxette never recorded.

Hi Donovan,

The Britney Spears-sounding title cut marked the sole pop single from the set (reaching No. 8 on the Hot 100), but, to my ears, Hollywood Records let two other hits unreleased: "Permanent December" and her remake of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." Ballads have a tough time at pop radio these days, as do remakes, so the combination of the latter likely doomed what sounded like a potential hit.

(While we're at it, let's add dad Billy Ray's "Everywhere I Wanna Be" as a song that should've been released as a single to country radio. The ballad appears on his 2000 set, "Southern Rain").

Hi Gary,

If Adele wants to continue her Streak of Hot 100 No. 1s off "21," she should release "Turning Tables," "Rumour Has It" and ballad "One and Only."

Thanks,

Hi Glen,

My choice would've been "Tables" as the follow-up to "Set Fire to the Rain," but in "Rumour" - the set's next single - Columbia Records likely has a fourth smash from "21" ahead, especially considering the song's sum of 759,000 downloads sold, according to SoundScan, its exposure on "Glee" and the familiarity the song built while reaching No. 1 on Triple A in August.
