The song is the second to be released off the country star's new album 'Storyteller.'

Carrie Underwood's fifth studio album, Storyteller, hits stores later this month, but before now we'd only gotten a single taste of the set in lead radio single "Smoke Break." That is, until Friday (Oct. 9), thanks to "Heartbeat."

Underwood debuted the new track, the country star's second to be revealed from Storyteller, Friday and immediately found success on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart, rocketing to No. 2 upon its release before trending inside the top 10 for much of the morning.

"Heartbeat," co-written by Underwood with Zach Crowell and Ashley Gorley (both frequent contributors to Storyteller), is more of a mid-tempo ballad than its predecessor, Underwood supplemented by backing male vocals as she sings of an evening spent away from the city, by the fire and "dancing to the rhythm of your heartbeat." The images it evokes should be perfect as fall bonfire season hits critical mass this month.

"Smoke Break" topped the Trending 140 and Country Digital Songs chart and has reached No. 5 on Hot Country Songs and No. 7 on Country Airplay.

Fans won't have to wait too much longer to hear the rest of the album -- Storyteller hits stores Oct. 23.
