Hours after Demi Lovato released her new single “Confident" on Sept. 17, fans' confidence in the single’s potential showed: It vaulted to No. 1 on the real time Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart, and held within the top 10 throughout the weekend. The track thus becomes Demi’s second chart-topper in recent weeks, following “Cool for The Summer,” which last reached the summit on Sept. 1 in the wake of its performance on the MTV Video Music Awards (Aug. 30).

Lovato debuted “Confident” on Pete Wentz’s Beats 1 show and offered a brief interview to accompany the song’s reveal. The spirited, assured cut lives up to its name, and is the title track from Lovato’s forthcoming album, due out Oct. 16. Confident follows 2013’s Demi, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and contained the hit singles “Heart Attack” and “Really Don’t Care.”

5SOS ‘Money’ Talks5 Seconds of Summer continues their hot streak atop the Trending 140 this week as “Money” cashed in on the No. 1 position, becoming the band’s fourth straight chart-topping cut. The Australian pop-punkers dropped the cut as an instant gratification track beginning Sept. 17. for fans who pre-ordered their upcoming album Sounds Good Feels Good via iTunes, due out Oct. 23. Huge interest surrounding the track sent it racing to No. 2 on the Trending 140 on its first day of availability, with the song completing the climb to No. 1 early the following morning.

“Money” maintains the stream of No. 1s from the band’s Sounds Good set. Throughout the summer, lead single “She’s Kinda Hot,” along with follow-up album cuts “Jet Black Heart” and “Fly Away,” have clocked 158 hours in the top 10 of the Trending 140. Their massive chart presence emphasizes the group’s highly active Twitter fan base, which currently amounts to 7.5 million followers.
