Independent promoter Nederlander Concerts has been selected to exclusively book the restored Earl Carroll Theatre in Hollywood. The long-term booking and promotion agreement adds to Nederlander’s Hollywood roster, which includes the Pantages Theatre, and Broadway in Hollywood presentations at the Dolby Theatre.

The roughly 1,800-capacity Earl Carroll Theatre on LA's famed Sunset Strip is a 38,000 square foot entertainment complex in the heart of Hollywood and is undergoing a multi-million dollar restoration. Phase I of the restoration includes the exterior, lobby, dressing rooms and theatre. The theater is expected to reopen in early 2021.

“We are thrilled to embark on this new project, reinvigorating and re-opening this spectacular venue for all to enjoy,” said Nederlander Concerts CEO Alex Hodges in a release.  “Hollywood has and always will be important to the Nederlander family, and we look forward to expanding our footprint and bringing quality live entertainment back to this beautiful, historic venue.”

The theatre will host concerts, comedy, family and other live entertainment. Additionally, the revitalized theatre will be available to the public for neighborhood meetings, and private as well as special events.

The Earl Carroll Theatre is operated by real estate investor and entrepreneur Brian Levian and Thaddeus Hunter Smith, who is the entrepreneur behind the highly successful Music Box Theatre at The Fonda in Los Angeles. Smith and Levian have signed a multi-year lease to revitalize the world-famous theatre and selected Nederlander Concerts to book and promote concert events year-round.

“We have a long history with the Nederlander family and are thrilled to partner with them at The Earl Carroll Theatre.  Nederlander’s history in Hollywood and booking expertise will bring vitality back to this glorious theatre,” said Smith in a release.

Completed in 1938, the Gordon B. Kaufmann-designed nightclub contributed to the rise of radio, television, and entertainment venues in the neighborhood anchored by Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street.  From 1997-2017, The Earl Carroll Theatre was home to Nickelodeon's television production studios, and before that, it was called the Aquarius Theatre.
