The icon said in a statement, “the pain I’m in right now is overwhelming.”

On Wednesday (Nov. 27), Madonna canceled all three of her intimate Madame X tour dates in Boston, citing doctor's orders. The music icon was scheduled to perform at Boston Center Wang Theatre from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.

“Please forgive this unexpected turn of events. Doing my show every night brings me so much joy and to cancel is a kind of punishment for me but the pain I’m in right now is overwhelming and I must rest and follow doctor’s orders so I can come back stronger and better and continue the Madame X journey with all of you,” Madonna said in a statement.

Via the venue, tour promoter Live Nation has also confirmed the news and added that the dates will not be rescheduled “due to the tight scheduling through the balance of the year.” Refunds for the Boston shows will be automatically issued to the credit card on which they were ordered.

This is not Madonna’s first setback for her mini-residency tour. The “Medellín” singer announced at the end of August that she would be postponing the opening dates of the tour in New York due to productions delays. After several dates at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in New York, Madonna had to once again call off a show due to injury.

She also canceled the opening night of her residency shows in Los Angeles at The Wiltern scheduled for Nov. 12.
