Zayn’s “It’s You” hit No. 1 on the real-time Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart after he premiered the song on NBC’s The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night (Feb. 17).

Zayn hinted at the reveal earlier in the day, telling his 17.8 million Twitter followers that he may have a “surprise” for fans on the show. The tweet has since gathered more than 152,000 favorites and nearly 98,000 retweets:

The Trending 140 chart measures the acceleration of conversation around artists and their music, while the Emerging Artists chart measures the volume of tweets around new artists and their songs.

During the Tonight Show stop, the former One Direction member also shared the artwork for his first solo album, Mind of Mine, which drops March 25 on RCA. Jimmy Fallon displayed the cover to his audience, which features a shot of a young Zayn tatted up.

“It’s You” follows Zayn’s current single “Pillowtalk,” which has crowned the Trending 140 on 11 nonconsecutive days since its Jan. 29 debut. The song’s social-media momentum -- further boosted by its music video, which co-stars Zayn’s girlfriend Gigi Hadid -- pushed the single to two weeks at No. 1 (thus far) on the weekly Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart.

“Pillowtalk” also earned a No. 1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 on the chart dated Feb. 20, becoming only the 25th song in the chart’s history to enter at the summit.
