The year-long initiative includes a slate of podcasts focused on environmental issues.
iHeartMedia celebrated Earth Day on Wednesday (April 22) with the launch of an environmental sustainability initiative, iHeartRadio Earth.
The initiative includes a year-long Public Service Announcement campaign to educate iHeartRadio listeners about small steps they can take to positively impact the planet. Over the course of the year, iHeartRadio Earth will also include social media activations, on-air personality and celebrity endorsements, a slate of new podcasts that focus on environmental issues, and information on local volunteer activities powered by nonprofit network VolunteerMatch.
“iHeartMedia reaches 9 out of 10 Americans every day. If every one of our listeners took one or two small steps within their day-to-day routines to do things like conserve energy and reduce waste and water, we have a massive opportunity to make lasting impact on the world today and for the future,” said iHeartMedia chairman/CEO Bob Pittman in a statement. “Through iHeartRadio Earth we will continually inform, educate and inspire our listeners to drive social change by providing them with information, opportunities and resources to make a difference for the environment.”
