Carla Morrison Signs Global Publishing Deal With UMPG

The deal marks the first time that the Mexican singer-songwriter has signed with a major music publisher.

Carla Morrison has signed an exclusive, worldwide publishing agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), Billboard has learned. The deal, covering her full catalog and future releases, marks the first time that the Mexican singer-songwriter has signed with a major music publisher.

"As a woman in this industry, I have taken the time to make my decisions based on knowledge and experience," Morrison said in a statement. "For many years now, I have studied who I'm able to partner with to expand the impact and exposure of my music. Ultimately, Universal Music Publishing felt like the best move for my future and my catalog. I’m very excited about this new adventure together and look forward to growing with the new songwriters I'll be meeting soon and entire UMPG family I have joined. I’m so excited!"

After taking a five-year hiatus, the Latin Grammy-winning artist most recently released back-to-back singles ("Ansiedad," "No Me Llames" and "Obra de Arte") via Cosmica Artists + Records over the past 10 months that explore her relationship with mental health. They preview her forthcoming sixth studio album.

In the last decade, Morrison has performed at major music festivals such as Coachella and the Vive Latino festival, and has performed sold out shows at Mexico City’s iconic Auditorio Nacional.

Beyond music, Morrison helped raise money for music industry professionals impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic joining forces with GoTrendier, a Mexican online thrift store that allows the public to shop Morrison’s closet to purchase her outfits. All proceeds benefitted the initiative "Volveremos A Tocar" (We Will Play Again), which helped photographers, engineers, managers and touring staff who were affected by tour cancellations.
