Concord Music Publishing has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with rising hip-hop artist Denzel Curry. With the agreement, Concord acquires Curry’s full catalog as well as future work. The deal is the first in Concord Music Publishing’s new joint venture with Loma Vista Recordings.

“At a very young age, Denzel has already had a significant role in hip-hop culture,” said Jeremy Yohai, head of U.S. creative/A&R for Concord Music Publishing. “Along with Tom and Ryan Whalley at Loma Vista, we are thrilled to be Denzel’s publisher as he moves into the next phase of his career.”

On March 14, Concord Music Publishing also announced a new sub-publishing deal with Paris-based independent music company Because Editions covering catalog in the United States and United Kingdom. Conford began administering the catalog in 2013. It includes songs by artists Christine & The Queens, Daft Punk, Manu Chao, Justice, among others, as well as the iconic composition "My Way."

The arrangement is also reciprocated in France, where Because has sub-published much of the Concord Music Publishing catalog since 2008.

"Because have such a varied and eclectic catalogue, we are delighted to extend our remit from the UK to now include the US in what is a very exciting time for both Concord and Because," said Kim Frankiewicz, executive vp of worldwide creative at Concord Music Publishing. "With our new global infrastructure in place, and our North America and UK creative and marketing teams working hand in hand with Because’ US synch and A&R teams, we are honoured that the Because folk have entrusted us with their catalogue and look forward to bringing them even more value."

Rising pop singer Carlie Hanson has signed a worldwide co-publishing and administration deal with Primary Wave Music Publishing for past and future songs, Billboard can exclusively report. The announcement comes just weeks after the 18-year-old signed a recording contract with Warner Bros Records and released the video for her latest single, “Numb.” Her debut EP is scheduled for release later this year.

"Carlie's songwriting is badass and vastly developed for an 18-year-old," said Jake Livingston, head of A&R for Primary Wave Music Publishing. "On stage she wears her emotions on her sleeve as did her favorite singer, Kurt Cobain."

Sony/ATV Music Publishing has signed a deal with legendary country singer Dolly Parton, covering her extensive catalog and future releases in North America and territories not covered by existing sub-publishing arrangements. Sony/ATV Music Publishing would not state the type of deal.

“Dolly Parton is a true musical icon and we are unbelievably excited to get the chance to work with her again,” said Martin Bandier, Sony/ATV’s chairman and CEO. “Her importance, influence and legacy as a recording artist is recognized the world over, but more than anything she stands out as an exceptional songwriter with a peerless catalog of songs, which we are honored to represent.”

“I am very excited to be working with Sony/ATV,” added Parton. “They know my catalog and they know me. Get ready, you're going to be hearing a lot more from me!”

Spirit Music Group has signed global publishing deal with songwriter and producer Gregg Wattenberg for his catalog, including songs recorded by Train (“If It’s Love”), Goo Goo Dolls (“Let Love In”), Phillip Phillips (“Gone, Gone, Gone” and “Raging Fire”), Five for Fighting (“Chances”) and more.

As part of the multi-faceted deal, Spirit Music Group will acquire the complete catalog of songs Wattenberg wrote under Sony/EMI, where Sony or the respective admin will still retain administration, while Spirit becomes the copyright owner. The company also acquired Wattenberg's publishing interest on songs he wrote for the WWE prior to Jan. 1, 2018, and songs that Wattenberg had publishing in from his Arcade Songs catalog. Spirit now admins the songs that Wattenberg has written that he self-publishes, Spirit co-publishes future works that Wattenberg writes, and Spirit and Wattenberg will co-publish anything signed under the new joint venture partnership.

“I have known Gregg for twenty years, dating back to our days at Island Records — we always knew that we would be working together again one day,” said Jon Singer, chairman of Spirit Music Group. “The timing is right and the team at Spirit is honored to represent and partner with such an accomplished songwriter and producer. This is a multi-faceted deal that not only allows Spirit to represent Gregg as a songwriter, but a partnership to identify and nurture new talent together. This is an exciting time for Spirit Music Group -- we’re just getting started.”

Andy Mineo has signed a partial catalog and go-forward global publishing admin deal with Position Music. The agreement includes his two current EPs, The Arrow and The Sword, as well as his previous Magic and Bird project with Wordsplayed and all songs from 2017 on. His previous publishing catalog remains with his record label Reach Records’s publishing company.

The deal has already resulted in a prime placement of Mineo’s “I Ain’t Done” in the recent Under Armour campaign for Steph Curry’s new sneakers.

“Andy Mineo is a world class rapper, performer, hook writer and a true creator,” said Position Music’s president and CEO Tyler Bacon. “We are thrilled to be a part of his team."

Entertainment One (eOne) has signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Aaron Pearce. Under the worldwide co-publishing deal, eOne will acquire part of Pearce’s song catalog and will support Pearce going forward in signing songwriters to his new publishing venture, Vintern Songs.

“We are so excited to welcome Aaron to the eOne family,” said Chris Taylor, global president of music at eOne. “He is an incredible talent with an amazing track record of working on so many hits over the years. We also love the fact that this gives us a strong foothold into the Nashville songwriter community.”

Cage the Elephant has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing administration deal with BMG for their upcoming fifth album, Social Cues, which will be released April 19.

"We are thrilled to be working alongside Cage the Elephant on their groundbreaking new album," said David Hirshland, BMG's executive vp of music publishing catalogs. "Beyond being their publishing partner, we are all huge fans of the band."

Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) announced a worldwide administration agreement with new independent publishing company S2 Songs on March 11. The deal is a joint venture between the two companies on all music going forward. S2 Songs is led by multiple Grammy-nominated songwriter Savan Kotecha and music executive Sonny Takhar, founder and CEO of Live Nation joint venture KYN Entertainment.

"It's really great to be working again with Jody Gerson and David Gray who we have both known for most of our careers," said Kotecha and Takhar in a joint statement. "We know our songwriters and producers will benefit from having Universal Music Publishing's global muscle behind them."
