Primary Wave Music Publishing has acquired Tom Hamilton’s publishing for an undisclosed sum. Hamilton, songwriter and bassist for Aerosmith, has co-written some of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s biggest hits including "Sweet Emotion" and "Janie's Got A Gun."
At 14, Hamilton joined a local band with an open bass position where he met future Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and later, Steven Tyler, who would become the band’s lead singer. Formed in 1971, Aerosmith has sold more than 150 million records sold worldwide, including 70 million in the U.S. The band has earned 25 Gold albums, 18 Platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums, making them the record holder for the most total RIAA certifications by an American group.
"We are thrilled to begin this partnership with the legendary Tom Hamilton," says Adam Lowenberg, CMO, Primary Wave Music Publishing, in a statement. "We couldn’t be prouder and more excited to have him join the Primary Wave family."
