A Los Angeles judge has approved Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears' request to be temporarily relieved of his role as the 37-year-old singer's conservator.
Jamie filed court papers on Sept. 5 asking the court to allow him to step down at his daughter’s conservatorship and to appoint a temporary conservatorship in his place. Britney has been under a conservatorship since 2008 when she was taken into UCLA hospital in an ambulance on a 5150 psychiatric hold after refusing to relinquish custody of her children. Following that incident, Spears' father petitioned the court to place the pop star in a conservatorship and under his care as her conservator.
Now, after Britney went to court on May 10 with her mother, Lynne Spears, and personally addressed the court, judge Brenda Penny has been reviewing all aspects of the 11-year-old conservatorship.
