Patreon executive Camille Hearst has been named head of Spotify for Artists, a newly-created role. She revealed the news via Twitter Tuesday (Oct. 6).

In the position, Hearst will lead a cross-functional team including product, tech, design and user research while also working closely with the team at SoundBetter, the music talent marketplace Spotify acquired in September 2019. She will report to Spotify vp, head of marketplace Charlie Hellman.

"I’ve spent almost the entirety of my career working on helping artists and creators make a living from their craft,” Hearst tweeted. “And now I get to continue that work at one of the companies best-positioned to make a serious dent in this space. What a dream!”

The New York-based Hearst jumps to Spotify from Patreon, where she served as head of product, creator & general manager, merch. She joined the team at the fan subscription platform following its 2018 acquisition of her social e-commerce service Kit, which was sold to Geniuslink the following year. She has also worked in roles at YouTube and iTunes.

Spotify for Artists offers artists, managers, labels and distributors real-time stats, data, analytics and tools to promote their music on the platform. Last month, the service announced a partnership with Songkick and Ticketmaster that gives Spotify listeners access to virtual event listings via artist profiles and the app’s Concerts hub.
