Steve Sternschein of Heard Presents with George Clinton

Prism.FM's Steve Sternschein is exiting the venue software company he co-founded in 2016 and served as president starting in 2019.

"I have left Prism.FM in an operational capacity although I remain a shareholder in the company," he told Billboard in a statement.

Sternschein will continue to serve as managing partner for Austin-based promotion company Heard Presents, including Empire and the Parish. During his time at Prism.FM the company raised more $6 million in seed financing including a $3 million bridge financing round in 2019. Prism currently services more than 120 clients representing over 1,000 venues and performance spaces and Sternschein added, "I am proud of what we have accomplished at Prism over the past three years, enabling independent promoters to more effectively run their businesses with purpose-built software."

Sternschein said his passion is working with independent promoters and serves a board member for the National Independent Venue Association where he will work with lobbying firm Akin Gump to lobby for federal funding to help struggling venues, which were the first to close as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and will among the last to open when the crisis ends.

"The independent community is facing an unprecedented liquidity crisis as a result of the pandemic," he said. "Now more than ever it is time for us to band together, tell our story with a united voice and work to reshape our businesses and the industry."
