Shore Fire Media promoted James Rainis to Senior Account Executive on Monday (July 8). Rainis was previously an Account Executive at the media management firm.
"James is an exemplary publicist and manager who approaches every campaign with vision, sensitivity, and nuance," said Shore Fire Senior Vice President Matt Hanks in a press release. "His skills as a storyteller are matched only by the depth of his musical knowledge."
Throughout his time at Shore Fire, Rainis has led campaigns for Bon Iver, Neko Case and the Brooklyn Museum, among others.
Dayna Dixon was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Music Week on July 8. Dixon most recently served as the Vice President of Programming at CMW. She's been with the company for eleven years.
Dixon will lead her team in creating national-profile events, award shows, international summits and networking efforts -- all related to the arts, media and technology.
Sam Reas was named Sony/ATV's Director of A&R on July 9. Reas will be based out of the company's New York office, where she has worked since 2015.
Reas was formerly the Creative Assistant to the Senior Vice President, Head of East Coast A&R Rich Christina and was promoted last year to Manager, A&R. In her new role, she will continue to report to Christina.
Reas has worked with a number of songwriters at Sony/ATV New York, including Geoff Warburton (Shawn Mendes), Imad Royal (MAX, Quinn XCII) and Sam Fischer (Ciara).
Billboard Women In Music honoree Natina Nimene has been named Senior VP, Urban Promotion at Def Jam Records, the label announced Wednesday (July 10).
In her new position, Nimene will manage the development and execution of Def Jam's artist-related strategies. Additionally, she will continue build connections with other industry players including artists, management and partners. Nimene will be based in New York, where she will report to Rodney Shealey, Executive VP Urban Promotions.
“There are new challenges on the horizon in this ever-changing marketplace and I look forward to meeting each and every one of them with all the energy, imagination and creativity that I have to offer," said Nimene in a statement.
BET Networks announced that Devin Griffin joins the company as General Manager, BET+. The subscription video-on-demand service focused on the African American audience, BET+, will feature more than 1,000 hours of premium content including new original programming and fan-favorite series, movies, and specials from BET Networks.
"With BET+, I see a big opportunity to provide powerful, comprehensive programming to African Americans, and lovers of black culture, in the SVOD space," said Griffin. "This audience has a voracious appetite for quality, authentic black stories and has been under-served for too long."
In his new role, Griffin will be based in Los Angeles, where he will report to Scott Mills, President of BET Networks. Griffin will manage the BET+ P&L and oversee business strategy & operations, including original programming, content acquisitions, marketing, distribution, planning and analysis.
Wayne “Wayno” Clark has joined Asylum Records, Warner Music Group’s streaming-focused imprint, as Vice President, A&R. In this role, he will cultivate Asylum’s fresh crop of talent and match them with producers and songwriters. Based at the label’s New York headquarters, Wayno will report to Asylum General Manager Gabrielle Peluso.
“Wayno is an authority in the hip-hop community, having spent years climbing the ranks and working with some of the biggest names in the space,” said Peluso. “His widespread network and his reputation as a respected go-getter are apparent in the emerging acts he’s already brought to us. The relaunched Asylum is made up of a dynamic group of creatives whose hunger and drive will help propel our roster to forward, and I’m thrilled to welcome Wayno into the family.”
Former Knitting Factory Entertainment exec Barry Berkowitz returns to the company as Senior VP of Business Strategy and Sponsorship, as announced by KFE on July 11. Previously, he served as VP Business Development from 2016-2017.
Berkowitz will focus on helping KFE and their sponsors, partners and clients define strategies and service solutions in order to increase revenues and efficiencies, while identifying potential acquisitions and building the long-term value of the company as a whole. In his new role, he will report to KFE President/CEO Morgan Margolis and CFO Chris Sherman.
“Having Barry back in a much greater focused senior leadership role with KFE is exactly what we need to help propel our company's strategies forward,” said Margolis. “We're excited to have him back on board and working directly with me and our teams.”
Sideways Inc. are bringing on Susan Hubbard as the head of the company's Nashville operations as Director of Communications. With her, Hubbard will bring her entire roster, which includes artists, music festivals and a music non-profit.
Sideways is a female owned and operated communications agency that has been based in Los Angeles for 10 years.
