ATLANTA — Porsche is preparing to release the Taycan, its first all-electric production vehicle that many expect will give Tesla a run for the top spot in the high-end electric car market, and it’s partnering with Apple Music to improve the in-car experience. At an event at Porsche's North American headquarters in Atlanta, the auto-maker announced that the Taycan will become the first vehicle to fully integrate Apple Music when the car is released in September. Subscribers to Apple Music will be able to stream the full Apple Music library and Beats 1 through the Porsche Advanced Cockpit dashboard in the Taycan.

As part of the deal between Porsche and Apple Music, Taycan owners will get three years of in-car internet for free, and a complimentary six months of Apple Music will be available to new Porsche owners. Existing Porsche owners who already subscribe to Apple Music will get three months of the streaming service for free.

“Porsche and Apple Music fit perfectly -- we share common values, and the same relentless attitude to user experience, to quality engineering, to design, and to innovation,” Detlev von Platen, member of the executive board for sales and marketing at Porsche AG said in a statement. “Together, we bring innovative digital entertainment technologies in our high-performance sports cars, starting with our fully electric Taycan.”

Taycan owners will be able to call up Apple Music using voice control and request songs, albums, playlists and radio stations. They will also be able to create custom radio stations on Apple Music based on songs heard on terrestrial radio and save songs on the radio to their Apple Music libraries. Additionally, Porsche will offer exclusive playlists on Apple Music.

“Since Apple Music launched, we’ve been working to bring our customers the best music experience possible in the car, and Porsche has been on the cutting edge in this space,” Oliver Schusser, vp of Apple Music and international content said in a statement. “Porsche builds sports cars at the highest level and today, with the introduction of the Taycan, customers now can choose Apple Music built-in seamlessly to find the perfect soundtrack for every drive.”

The Porsche Taycan, which has already racked up 30,000 pre-orders, will be available before the end of the year.
