Kacey Musgraves Brings 'Star' Power to No. 1 on Top Country Albums Chart

Kacey Musgraves scores her biggest week for an album, in terms of equivalent album units, as Star-Crossed blasts in atop Billboard's Top Country Albums chart (dated Sept. 25), marking her fourth leader.

Released Sept. 10, the set earned 77,000 units (47,000 in album sales) in its opening week, according to MRC Data.

Musgraves, who co-wrote all 15 tracks on the LP and co-produced it with Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian, previously led Top Country Albums with Golden Hour, which opened with 49,000 units in April 2018; Pageant Material (60,000, July 2015, including 55,000 albums sold, marking her biggest sales week); and Same Trailer Different Park, (43,000 albums sold, April 2013).

Among its honors, Golden Hour won the Grammy Award for album of the year in 2019.

On the all-genre Billboard 200, Star-Crossed enters at No. 3, marking Musgrave's fourth top five entry.

Meanwhile, six songs from the new set scale the multi-metric Hot Country Songs chart. "Justified" jumps 39-22, joined by debuts for "Simple Times" (No. 31), Breadwinner" (No. 36), "Star-Crossed" (No. 37), "Good Wife" (No. 41) and "Cherry Blossom" (No. 44).

Star-Crossed also launches atop Americana/Folk Albums, while "Justified" surges 27-20 on Adult Alternative Airplay and debuts at No. 40 on Adult Pop Airplay.
