He notches his 11th leader, passing Gerardo Ortiz for the most No. 1s among soloists.

A presence on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart since 2017, Christian Nodal breaks the record for most No. 1s among soloists in the chart’s 26-year history.

“Duele,” his collaboration with Alejandro Fernández, lifts 3-1 to become Nodal’s 11th No. 1 on the ranking dated April 24. Fernández picks up his fourth No. 1. “Duele” pushes up the chart with 6.96 million in audience impressions, up 21%, earned in the week ending April 18, according to MRC Data.

Nodal got his first No. 1 in 2017. He has clocked at least two new No. 1s each year from 2017 through 2021.

Nodal takes over sole possession of the most No. 1s among soloists on Regional Mexican Airplay from Gerardo Ortiz, whose song “El Perro” holds at No. 6 on the current tally for a second week, with a gain of less than 1% in audience.

Ortiz was last atop the list less than a year ago, with "Otra Borrachera," which spent two weeks at No. 1 (June 27 and July 11, 2020-dated charts). Ortiz got his first No. 1 in 2012 and notched at least one new No. 1 in every subsequent year, except for 2013, 2019 and 2021 (so far).

Among all acts with the most No. 1s on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, Nodal and Ortiz trail seven groups.

Nodal’s No. 1s date back to 2017 as “Adios Amor,” a seven-week champ, earned him his first Regional Mexican win. Out of the 11 leaders, only three have been through collaborations.

Over on the all-genre Latin Airplay chart, “Duele” rises 9-7, the highest Fernández has charted since “Caballero” topped the tally for two weeks in January 2020.
