Billboard Global 200 Widens International Scope With IU and DJ Ivis

For the fourth consecutive week, the Billboard Global 200, Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and the U.S.-based Billboard Hot 100 charts share a chart-topper, as Olivia Rodrigo's "Drivers License" continues its reign. But further down the lists, the global charts are populated by notable acts finding success thanks mostly to international sales and streams.

One such artist is South Korean singer-songwriter IU. Her newest single, "Celebrity," rockets from No. 190 to No. 44 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, while debuting at No. 78 on the Global 200 (dated Feb. 13).

Similarly, "Esquema Preferido" by Brazilian acts DJ Ivis and Tarcisio do Acordeon, the latter in a featured role, leaps 146-82 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart and enters the Global 200 at No. 174.

Both songs take the majority of their sales and streams from outside the U.S. (reinforced by each's higher ranking on the Global Excl. U.S. tally). Among the 151 songs that appear on both global charts this week, their average sales breakdown is 52% in the U.S. and 48% internationally, according to MRC Data. "Celebrity" and "Esquema Preferido" surge to shares of 85% and 88%, respectively, outside the U.S.

Stream counts for both songs likewise skew higher for international territories, with a whopping 94% for "Celebrity" and, when rounded, 100% for "Esquema Preferido." That's compared to the week's average of 76%.

Only one song on this week's charts earns an even higher portion of its streams from outside the U.S. than "Esquema Preferido." Yuuri's "Dry Flower," at No. 29 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart and No. 61 on the Global 200, received 13 million streams in the tracking week, almost all from international territories.
