It’s the Puerto Rican producers’ first leader as featured artists.

The Puerto Rican partnership between producers Los Legendarios with Wisin and Myke Towers flourishes as their collaboration “Mi Niña” jumps 3-1 on the Latin Airplay chart dated Jan. 16.

Los Legendarios comprises Marcos Ramírez and Víctor R. Torres, who launched their career as producers in 2008. “Mi Niña” earns them their first No. 1 -- and first entry -- on any Billboard chart as credited artists. As producers, however, they have scored previous hits.

“As producers, this is our seventh No. 1 but as featured artists, this is our first,” Ramirez tells Biilboard.  “We are very excited to see that validation from fans. To spend all those hours, all that work with so much passion and to see everybody enjoying your music is just a great feeling.”

“Mi Niña” sits atop Latin Airplay with 12 million in audience impressions, up 7%, earned in the week ending Jan. 10, according to MRC Data.

“In terms of production, it was a great experience and more or less a smooth ride,” Ramirez adds. “We collaborated with Yannc Full Harmony, another producer from the island, all trying to achieve our best work. The main challenge was to find our sound and stick to our essence but do something different. We were playing for the same team.”

While Los Legendarios score a first Latin Airplay leader, Wisin claims his 17th and lands into a three-way tie with Ricky Martin and Romeo Santos for the sixth-most leaders since the tally launched in 1994. Towers secures his second.

Let’s take a look at the 10 acts leading the No. 1 board:

Artist, No. 1s

Enrique Iglesias, 31

J Balvin, 27

Daddy Yankee, 22

Ozuna, 21

Maluma, 20

Ricky Martin, 17

Romeo Santos, 17

Wisin, 17

Carlos Vives, 15

Nicky Jam, 15

“Working with Wisin and Myke was a great experience,” Ramirez muses. “Wisin is our friend, our mentor. He has given us a platform to be successful in the music industry, we are eternally grateful. It’s always an adventure to work with him. As far as Myke, he’s such a talented visionary and hungry artist. We feel blessed that they both trusted us to produce this track.”

Over on the airplay-, digital- and streaming-blended Hot Latin Songs chart, “Mi Niña” remains at No. 10 for a second week, the song’s highest ranking in its 15-weeks on the chart.
