The multi-faceted performer's new LP secures his best debut yet.
Ty Dolla $ign banks his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart as the singer-rapper’s Featuring Ty Dolla $ign enters at the summit on the chart dated Nov. 7. The project earned 44,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 29, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, the highest debut week of his career.
Of its starting total, Featuring breaks down as such: 4,000 units come from traditional album sales, with 1,000 in track-equivalent units (also known as TEA, where 10 individual track purchases from digital retailers equates to one album unit), and the remaining 39,000 derive from streaming (translating to 50.8 million U.S. on-demand streams of the album’s songs).
Featuring arrives as the top-streamed R&B album of the week and the genre’s second-best seller in albums, after Prince’s Sign of the Times, helped by a super-deluxe re-release of the 1987 classic.
