Arcangel nabs his fifth top five on the Top Latin Albums chart as Los Favoritos 2 arrives at No. 5 on the Oct. 31 survey.

His fifth studio album is the follow-up to Los Favoritos, with DJ Luian, which opened at No. 2 in January 2016. The new set, however, is sans DJ Luian as producer. "We have different projects now, so DJ Luian couldn't be part of this second volume," Arcangel tells Billboard. "We have so many tracks with established and up-and-coming artists within the genre that a volume three could potentially come out in 2022."

Los Favoritos 2 was helmed by an array of producers and released Oct. 16, via Rimas. "We gave the opportunity to new producers to expose their talents because they showed they were up to the part," Arcangel continues. "Among those are JH Beats, Crivas, JV Boris and Faraonykz y Lauro."

The 18-track set pulled 8,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 22, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Of the set's opening sum, 6,000 came from streaming of the album, while 2,000 were from album sales.

The Top Latin Albums chart ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Los Favoritos 2's 6,000 SEA units equate to 10 million on-demand streams for the set's songs in its opening week.

As mentioned above, Los Favoritos 2 is the continuation of Los Favoritos. In between, two other efforts secured Arcangel a spot in the chart’s top five: Ares (No. 5 debut, 2018) and Historias de Un Capricornio (No. 2 debut, Jan. 4-dated list); the latter ascends 35-30 on the current tally.

Los Favoritos 2 is Arcangel's fifth total and consecutive top five on Top Latin Albums, a run that dates to the No. 1 launch and one-week reign of Sentimiento, Elegancia & Maldad (Dec. 7, 2013).

The new album features a slew of Latin artists, including Farruko, Maluma, Ozuna, Romeo Santos, Sech and Wisin & Yandel. "It's my never-ending passion that makes this production flow in different aspects," Arcangel muses. "Being able to collaborate with so many talented individuals has allowed me to enjoy everything from the lyrics and harmony to mastering and sound. It's been interesting to work long-distance with more than 23 artists who were part of the project. I only shared the studio with four, Yaga (of Yaga and Mackie), De La Ghetto, Alex Rose and El Alfa."

The Dominican's latest effort also starts at No. 5 on Latin Rhythm Albums. Concurrently, one track from Los Favoritos 2 dots the airplay-, streaming- and sales-blended Hot Latin Songs chart: "Satisfacción," with Myke Towers, starts at No. 45. The set was preceded by two tracks: "Amantes y Amigos," with Sech, the album's second single, hikes 35-26 on Hot Latin Songs, after "Sigues Con Él," with Sech, became Arcangel's highest-charting title (No. 3 peak, May 23).

The new version of the latter song on the album is a remix that also features Santos. "For Romeo to give us that vote of confidence has been amazing," Arcangel beams. "He is such a talented artist. When one of my best friends who is a friend of his told me the song he liked the most was 'Sigues Con Él,' we didn't hesitate for a second. I didn't have in mind to do a remix but since he chose it, we went for it."
