“Me Gusta” concurrently gives Anitta her first entry on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it debuts at No. 91.
“This feels really great,” Anitta tells Billboard. “It’s not that common to see a Brazilian artist reach this kind of accomplishment. For me it’s really important because this is not like other works of mine like ‘Downtown’ and other songs, that even though they didn’t reach charts like Hot 100, they have still helped elevate my career and have success in other countries. I am really happy to make such a strong debut.”
“Me Gusta” arrives at No. 5 mainly on the strength of streaming activity and sales. The bilingual tune logged 6 million on-demand streams in the week ending Sept. 24, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, which yields a No. 3 debut on Latin Streaming Songs.
It concurrently registered 5,000 downloads, attaining a No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart, Anitta’s first No. 1 there.
As Anitta claims her second top 10 on Hot Latin Songs, Cardi B nabs her fourth and Towers his third.
“Working with Myke and Cardi was very simple, they are both very easy, truly humble and hardworking people,” Anitta says. “We are very much alike, down to earth, and we had fun working on the track together. They were always up to whatever ideas I wanted to explore. Also, their fanbases are just as passionate and supportive as mine. That is amazing to see!”
