The track, featuring Elle Limebear, is Maher's third No. 1.

Matt Maher's "Alive & Breathing," featuring Elle Limebear, climbs 2-1 on Billboard's Christian Airplay chart dated June 27.

The song increased by 4 percent to 8.4 million audience impressions in the week ending June 21, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. It marks Maher's third Christian Airplay No. 1 and Limebear's first.

"Breath is the fundamental aspect of life. You can't live without it. It's part of our creation in the Bible," Maher tells Billboard. "Last year, Elle and I wrote this song. At the time, I was struggling with moments of panic, fear and anxiety, about my future, my kid's future, so many things. I needed to remind myself to keep breathing. Real panic and stress shuts down your ability to breathe. We had no idea what would transpire in the world a year later."

He continues, "I've learned that my panic and stress, though real, is nothing compared to the real panic of those dying of a pandemic or those living under the oppression of 400 years of slavery and institutional racism. If this song can help anyone, especially them, that's a huge honor."

"Alive" is Maher's first Christian Airplay No. 1 since his holiday track "Glory (Let There Be Peace)," which led for a week in January 2017. "Because He Lives (Amen)" reigned for a frame in April 2015.

Maher, originally from Newfoundland and who now lives in Nashville, has logged 22 Christian Airplay appearances, including 11 top 10s. His debut track, "Your Grace Is Enough," reached No. 4 in July 2008.

Limebear, a worship leader and youth pastor in Brighton, England, is the daughter of Delirious? frontman Martin Smith. Delirious? charted 12 entries on Top Christian Albums in 1998-2009, including two top 10s: King of Fools (No. 7, 1998) and Mezzamorphis (No. 2, 1999).

"Alive" is Limebear's third Christian Airplay hit. "What Love Looks Like" peaked at No. 37 in February, following her featured turn on One Sonic Society's "Love Song," which reached No. 31 in February 2019.
