MAMAMOO's Solar, "Spit It Out"

"Spit It Out" bows to help MAMAMOO earn a chart feat only one other K-pop group has achieved.

All four of the MAMAMOO members can call themselves Billboard-charting artists after the K-pop girl group's leader Solar makes her first mark as a soloist.

The powerhouse diva sees her debut solo single "Spit It Out" enter Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart at No. 12 on the chart dated May 2, 2020. With the daring pop cut marking Solar's first entry on the chart, she now becomes the final MAMAMOO member to land a solo track on World Digital Song Sales.

Hwa Sa was the first MAMAMOO member to break into World Digital Song Sales when "Twit" flew into the tally at No. 3 in February 2019, with Wheein following later that year with her ballad track "Good Bye" that bowed at No. 24 in September. The group's resident rapper Moonbyul landed her first solo single in February of this year when "Eclipse" hit No. 14, followed by Solar's entrance this week.

Solar isn't the only MAMAMOO member on the charts this week either, as Hwa Sa sees her sultry new ballad "Orbit," recorded for the soundtrack to Korean television drama The King : Eternal Monarch, also debut at No. 16 this week. This is Hwa Sa's second solo entry this year (after featuring on K-pop/rock band OneWe's single "Q" that hit No. 12 last month) and third overall.

With both the group and all of its members landing solo entries on World Digital Song Sales, MAMAMOO now pull off a chart feat only one other K-pop group has done before.

The legendary girl group 2NE1 -- who were also the first K-pop group to ever hit No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales back in 2014 -- has seen members Park Bom, Sandara Park, CL and Minzy all land entries on the chart just like Solar, Wheein, Moonbyul and Hwa Sa. Funnily enough, there has already been a 2NE1-MAMAMOO collaboration in the Park Bom's track "4:44" that features Wheein, although it didn't manage to enter the charts. (And for those keeping track, BTS has also technically landed songs sung by all of the individual members on the charts but many of them have been credited to the group BTS instead of the individual members. To date, only RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope and V have been listed as the artists on charting songs.)

Notably, MAMAMOO has been able to achieve their solo chart successes while still being active as a group and, arguably, more successful than ever as their latest single "Hip," released in November of last year, became the first No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales. 2NE1 had already officially disbanded by the time Bom, Dara and Minzy had earned their first solo entries. Still 2NE1 was one of the first groups to make significant inroads internationally with successful tours and activities abroad, could a similar path be in the works for the women of MAMAMOO?
