His debut set also arrives at No. 1 on Latin Pop Albums chart.

Camilo's debut album arrives straight into the top five on the Top Latin Albums chart, as Por Primera Vez bows at No. 5 on the list dated May 2. Nearly all the album’s opening sum was attributed to streaming activity.

The singer-songwriter’s debut set, released April 17 via Hecho a Mano/Sony Music Latin, earned 4,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 23, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

“This album was born at home, among family. It was Hecho a Mano (handmade),” the Colombian stated via a press release. “Although I’m called an artist, I consider myself an artisan.”

Top Latin Albums ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album unis. Units comprise traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

Por Primera Vez registered a little under 4,000 SEA, which equates to 6.2 million SEA units for the set’s tracks in its debut week.

“It doesn't matter how much I have been rowing for this,” he added. “I never want to stop being a new artist.”

Notably, Por Primera Vez becomes the first Latin pop album of 2020 to debut in the top five on Top Latin Albums. Three Latin rhythm sets, one tropical and three regional Mexican albums have previously arrived in the top five of the list this year.

Co-produced alongside Jon Leone, the 10-track set concurrently opens at No. 1 on Latin Pop Albums. It’s the first album in 2020 to debut atop the list and the first since Juanes' Más Futuro Que Pasado bowed at No. 1 almost five months ago (Dec. 7, 2019-dated survey).

Compared to 2019, which registered two No. 1 debuts on the Latin Pop Albums chart in the first four months of the year (Luis Fonsi’s VIDA, Feb. 16, 2019, and Sebastian Yatra’s Fantasía, April 27, 2019), Camilo’s Por Primera Vez grants the chart its first No. 1 debut in 2020’s first four months.

Por Primera Vez was preceded by two tracks on the Hot Latin Songs chart, which blends airplay, digital sales and streaming data: “Tutu,” with Pedro Capó, peaked at No. 16 and “Favorito” surges 40-26 on the current chart.
