Crowell dethrones Dann Huff, who had led the chart every week of 2020.

Zach Crowell hits No. 1 on Billboard's Country Producers chart (dated April 18), leading for the first time thanks to seven production credits on the latest Hot Country Songs chart, all via songs performed by Sam Hunt.

All seven tracks appear on Hunt's new sophomore LP Southside, which debuts at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart and No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with 46,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Hunt's "Kinfolks," which Crowell solely produced, leads the way at No. 7 on Hot Country Songs (after peaking at No. 3 in February), followed by "Hard to Forget," which he co-produced with Luke Laird, new to the top 10 at No. 9.

Here's a look at all seven of Crowell's production credits on Hot Country Songs, all by Hunt:

Rank, Title (producers in addition to Zach Crowell)
No. 7, "Kinfolks"
No. 9, "Hard to Forget" (Luke Laird)
No. 25, "2016"
No. 34, "Young Once"
No. 35, "Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90's"
No. 41, "Sinning With You" (Bryce Cain)
No. 50, "That Ain't Beautiful"

Crowell also co-wrote five of the tracks above.

He supplants format cornerstone Dann Huff, who has led Country Producers for 35 total weeks, including the last 19 in a row until this week dating to late November.

Crowell has produced 29 Hot Country Songs hits, including four No. 1s, all by Hunt: "Leave the Night On," "House Party," "Take Your Time" and "Body Like a Back Road," which ruled for a then-record 34 weeks 2017. He has also written 12 Country Airplay No. 1s.

The weekly Country Songwriters and Country Producers charts are based on total points accrued by a songwriter and producer, respectively, for each attributed song that appears on the Hot Country Songs chart; As with Billboard's yearly recaps, multiple writers or producers split points for each song equally (and the dividing of points will lead to occasional ties on rankings).
