The duet with Dan + Shay dominates for a second week.

Justin Bieber's first foray onto Billboard's Country Airplay chart has resulted in not only his first leader on the list, but his latest multiformat triumph.

"10,000 Hours," with Dan + Shay, spends a second week at No. 1 on Country Airplay (dated Feb. 1), with 36 million audience impressions in the week ending Jan. 26, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

The track rebounds 7-6 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, after debuting at its No. 4 high in October, and rules Hot Country Songs (which employs the same streaming-, airplay- and sales-based formula as the Hot 100) for a 16th week.

As previously reported, Bieber has now topped 10 radio airplay charts in his career: Adult Contemporary, Adult Pop Songs, Country Airplay, Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Latin Airplay, Latin Pop Airplay, Latin Rhythm Airplay (the three Latin charts thanks to his featured turn on Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's 2017 smash "Despacito"), Pop Songs, the all-format Radio Songs survey and Rhythmic Songs (the first such list that he led, with "As Long as You Love Me," featuring Big Sean, in October 2012).

Country radio programmers find Bieber a welcome addition on "10,000 Hours," which became format staples Dan + Shay's seventh Country Airplay No. 1.

"The Biebs fits in seamlessly," muses Nancy Wilson, program director of WHKO Dayton, Ohio, which has played the song over 850 times. "And Dan + Shay's latest Grammy [for best country duo/group performance, for "Speechless"] further proves that these two are superstars."

"It's really song-dependent. Is the country artist strong? Is the song is strong? That's really what I focus on," says Fletcher Keyes, PD of WWQM Madison, Wisconsin, which has given "10,000 Hours" over 300 spins. "Plus, Dan + Shay sell out big venues fast and have broad appeal and very passionate fans."

Since the Country Airplay chart launched just over 30 years ago (with the survey dated Jan. 20, 1990), 817 songs have hit No. 1. In the past decade, collaborations between core country and pop acts have become more conventional, with "10,000 Hours" the first such leader since Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line's "Meant to Be" in April 2018. The previous July, FGL topped the chart with "God, Your Mama, And Me," featuring Backstreet Boys.

"Collaborations are very common in other formats, and some of our biggest songs over the years have been collaborations, by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson ["Don't You Wanna Stay," in 2011], and Kenny Chesney and P!nk ["Setting the World on Fire," in 2016]," notes Nate Deaton, GM of KRTY San Jose, California. The station has played "10,000 Hours" nearly 600 times to date.

"A Dan + Shay song with a global superstar? Amazing opportunity for country radio."
