Tyler, the Creator & Lizzo Wrap Fall Tours by Setting Personal Records

After a lap around North America from Sept. 2 to Oct. 26, Tyler, the Creator has wrapped the Igor Tour with the biggest returns of his career. He lands at No. 5 on the Nov. 9-dated Hot Tours recap with more than $5 million earned in October. According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, the 2019 trek totaled $12.8 million and 225,793 tickets over 31 shows.

Tyler’s performances in San Francisco, New York, Columbia, Md., and Toronto were the tour’s four biggest engagements, as well as the highest earners and most attended of his career. His two shows at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium earned $1.1 million from 17,812 tickets, making the tour’s only double-header the only engagement to crack the million-dollar mark.

Looking back on the rap provocateur’s touring reports, his career can be split into three sections. One, through his early albums in the first half of the decade, where Tyler averaged $36,000 and 1,338 tickets per night. Then, following the release of his transformative 2017 LP Flower Boy, tickets increased from $26.73 to $38.52, bumping sales to $177,000 and 4,584 tickets each show. And now, 2019’s Igor Tour, surrounding Tyler’s first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, he is moving an average of 7,284 tickets and $414,000 per night at an average ticket of $56.80.

The gradual transition from clubs to theaters to arenas his allowed Tyler to build a loyal base the spreads beyond his headline tours. On Nov. 9-10, he will host the eighth annual Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, a festival of music and activities, grounded by Tyler and his Odd Future roots. One of the first major artist-curated festivals, the event has grown dramatically in size since its 2012 beginnings. Tyler will play additional select dates in Australia and New Zealand in December and January.

Further down the Hot Tours listing, another debut arena tour wraps with Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You Too Tours coming to an end after two last dates at Tyler’s highlighted the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. Ultimately, the tour earned $8.8 million and sold 175,022 tickets and pushes her 2019 total to $10.8 million and 243,789 tickets, edging out Billboard’s $10 million projection from last month.
