Beyonce's Surprise 'Homecoming' Album Heading for Top 10 Debut on Billboard 200 Chart

Album set for top 10 bow from only two days of activity.

Beyoncé’s surprise Homecoming: The Live Album is heading for a top 10 debut on the Billboard 200 chart, according to industry forecasters. Those in the know suggest the set, which dropped with no warning in the very early hours of Wednesday, April 17, could launch with between 30,000 and 40,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending April 18.

The anticipated top 10 start for the set is impressive, considering it only has two days of activity in the tracking week powering its chart debut. (Billboard’s album charts’ tracking week runs Friday through Thursday.)

Homecoming: The Live Album was released via Parkwood/Columbia Records to digital retail and streaming services shortly after the premiere of Beyoncé’s Homecoming film on Netflix at 12:01 a.m. on April 17. Both projects chronicle Beyoncé’s headlining performances at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the April 27-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Homecoming could debut in the top 10) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, April 21.
