Shawn Mendes Tour Set for $75 Million-Plus Earnings After $12.7 Million Start in Europe

Initial reports from the first leg of Shawn Mendes: The Tour impact the Hot Tours recap dated April 13, 2019 at No. 3. According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, Mendes grossed $12.7 million and sold 188,980 in the tour’s first 16 dates, topped by performances at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome ($1.6 million; March 7-8) and Copenhagen’s Royal Arena ($1.2 million; March 16).

Mendes last toured Europe in 2017 on the Illuminate World Tour. He played 21 dates and grossed $12.9 million, topping out on the leg’s final dates at London’s O2 Arena, earning $1.5 million over two nights. Mendes has already topped his individual best with the recent Amsterdam shows and will easily outperform 2017’s European leg in total, as there are 11 more dates left to report. Again, he’ll finish the run at the O2, this time with three shows.

Mendes is scheduled for an additional 70 dates around the world in 2019, touring North America, Australia, and Latin America. Worldwide, his 2017 tour grossed $35 million over 54 dates, averaging $649,000 per night. So far, he is pacing $795,000 each show in 2019. With a far more expansive global tour (97 dates, compared to 54 in 2017), Shawn Mendes: The Tour is headed toward a total gross of $75-80 million.

Having just crossed the $50 million threshold in career grosses, the remainder of this year’s tour will push his total over the nine-figure mark as he plays his first ever stadium shows at Toronto’s Rogers Centre on Sept. 6.
