The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the new Jan. 6, 2018-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Huncho Jack and The Greatest Showman should hit the top 10) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, Dec. 31.
Taylor Swift's former leader Reputation may return to No. 1 on next week’s chart, with over 90,000 units. The set is likely benefiting from last-minute Christmas gift shopping, as next week’s chart will reflect the tracking week ending Dec. 28 -- including the last three days before Christmas (Dec. 22, 23 and 24).
As for the Huncho Jack album, it will be largely powered by streams, whereas traditional album sales may amount to just 15,000 to 20,000 of its sum. Swift’s Reputation, on the other hand, could earn more than 70,000 in pure album sales.
The Greatest Showman soundtrack -- featuring music from the film's stars Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Zendaya, among others -- will light up the top 10 following its parent film’s opening in U.S. theaters on Dec. 20. The top 10 last housed a soundtrack on the chart dated Aug. 19, 2017, when Disney Channel’s TV movie Descendants 2 dipped 6-9 in its second week on the list. The last theatrical film soundtrack to visit the top 10 was Disney’s Moana, when it spent its final week in the top 10 on the Aug. 5 list.
