Liam Payne follows Zayn & Harry Styles, as "Strip That Down" moves 11-10.
Liam Payne becomes the third member of One Direction to score a solo top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as "Strip That Down," featuring Quavo, rises 11-10 (on the list dated Sept. 16). With the ascent, 1D joins the lofty company of The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and New Edition as groups with three or more solo members who've scored Hot 100 top 10s.
Payne follows (former 1D member) Zayn and Harry Styles in notching at least one solo top 10 hit on the Hot 100. Zayn, who left the boy band in March 2015, has earned two: "Pillowtalk," which debuted at No. 1 in February 2016, and the No. 2-peaking "I Don't Wanna Live Forever (Fifty Shades Darker)," with Taylor Swift, this March. Styles' first and so far only solo top 10, "Sign of the Times," debuted and peaked at No. 4 in April.
Looking ahead, Niall Horan could be the next 1D member to join the club, as his "Slow Hands" flirts with the top 10, bulleting at No. 15 this week (down from its No. 14 peak, but still rising in airplay). The group's other member, Louis Tomlinson, also places on the Hot 100, at No. 62, with "Back to You," featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals, after it debuted at its No. 40 peak (and Tomlinson's solo Hot 100 high).
