The alternative-electronic group LANY (pronounced Lay-nee) topped the real-time Billboard + Twitter Emerging Artists chart with its new single “Yea, Babe, No Way” upon the music video’s debut Wednesday (Aug. 3).

The Los Angeles-based trio hits No. 1 on the chart after previously reaching No. 5 on the July 2-dated Billboard + Twitter Emerging Artists weekly chart.

The Billboard + Twitter Emerging Artists chart tracks the most shared songs on Twitter in real-time. The artist must have fewer than 100,000 Twitter followers and have never had a song in the top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100 or top 50 of the Billboard 200 as a lead artist -- meaning a popular artist can be featured on the song and still be eligible.

LANY is a relatively young band, formed in 2014 in Nashville by three friends -- Paul Jason Klein, Leslie Priest and Jake Goss. Its name is an acronym for Los Angeles, New York.

After finding early success with their first two EPs -- including I Loved You. (which reached No. 24 on the Heatseekers Albums chart) -- and developing a following on SoundCloud, the band signed with Polydor Records in December. The group has since toured with artists like Troye Sivan, Ellie Goulding and X Ambassadors.

The act's single “Yea, Babe, No Way” is featured on third EP Kinda, which was released June 24. Kinda has so far peaked at No. 14 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. The group is currently on tour in Europe, but will come to the U.S. in late September.
