The Lumineers perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on April 7, 2016.

The trio is the first group to reign since another folk-rock act: Mumford & Sons, nearly a year ago.

The Lumineers reign as the top musical act in the U.S., re-entering the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated April 30) at No. 1. The group earns its first week on top, powered by the arrival of its new album, Cleopatra.

The Artist 100 (which launched in July 2014) measures artist activity across Billboard's most influential charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Top Album Sales and the Social 50. The Artist 100 blends data measuring album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

The Lumineers Score Their First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart

The Lumineers become the first act to re-enter the Artist 100 at No. 1 (after they logged a prior week on the chart at No. 98 in February), as the threesome's sophomore LP Cleopatra debuts atop the Billboard 200 (125,000 equivalent albums earned, according to Nielsen Music) and Top Album Sales (108,000 in traditional sales). The band boasts a 1,101 percent gain in overall activity, with album sales accounting for 88 percent of its Artist 100 points. In addition to Cleopatra, the Lumineers' self-titled 2012 debut full-length re-enters Top Album Sales at No. 74 (4,000 sold, up 126 percent).

The Lumineers bring a group back to the Artist 100 summit for the first time in almost a year (May 23, 2015), since another folk-rock act, Mumford & Sons (who took a more mainstream turn on their last album, Wilder Mind, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 and Top Album Sales that week). In between, 12 soloists led the Artist 100.

As the Lumineers top the Artist 100, Justin Bieber dips 1-2 after 11 (nonconsecutive) weeks on top, the most among males, Drake drops 2-3 and Rihanna holds at No. 4. Deftones debut at No. 5 on the Artist 100, fueled almost entirely by sales of the alt-metal band's new set Gore, which debuts at No. 2 on Top Album Sales (69,000 sold).
