Miley's sister, Noah Cyrus, is notably signed to RECORDS/Columbia herself, along with Lil Nas X, who of course collaborated with the siblings' father Billy Ray Cyrus on 2019 smash "Old Town Road." The current Columbia roster also includes artists like Adele, AC/DC, Beyoncé, Blink-182, Calvin Harris, Harry Styles and 24kGoldn.
Cyrus had been signed to RCA since 2013 for the release of her Billboard 200-topping album Bangerz that year, which spawned Hot 100 No. 1 "Wrecking Ball" and No. 2 "We Can't Stop." The singer-songwriter and guitarist, who famously got her start as the star of Disney Channel series Hannah Montana, went on to release three more Billboard 200 top five projects under RCA: Younger Now in 2017; the EP She Is Coming in 2019; and the glam rock-flavored Plastic Hearts in November, which debuted at No. 2.
Along the way, Cyrus also independently released Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, a psychedelic collaboration with the Flaming Lips, in 2015, which RCA re-released commercially two years later.
Following lukewarm reception to the rootsy Younger Now, and a scrapped plan to make She Is Coming the first in a trifecta of EPs, Cyrus genre-hopped back over to rock on Plastic Hearts, which became her most acclaimed album in years. The project -- which includes single "Midnight Sky" as well as collaborations with Dua Lipa, Billy Idol, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks -- is Cyrus' first entry on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart, where it debuted at No. 1. Cyrus also tallied eight entries on Hot Rock Songs with the album, including the title track, which peaked at No. 8.
