Smart speaker manufacturer and audio company Sonos is launching a new, high-definition subscription streaming service for its speakers, the company announced today (Nov. 12). The new service, called, appropriately, Sonos Radio HD, is an ad-free and enhanced version of its existing ad-supported radio service, which promises exclusives, genre stations, sleep and relaxation stations and skips and repeats.
The service is available beginning today in the U.S. and the U.K. for $7.99/£7.99 per month, with a one-month trial, with additional countries and territories to be rolled out in the future.
The first major announcement the company is rolling out with the new service is a collaboration with Dolly Parton for a station called Songteller Radio, which will "evolve with Dolly’s hits, favorite artists and special commentary on songs and moments throughout her career," according to a press release. “I had so much fun getting to share little stories and tidbits from the songs that have made up my life and career,” Parton said in a statement. Five new artist-hosted stations are set to debut early next year, with more to come moving forward.
