Billie Eilish's Mom Partners With The Darkroom & Interscope to Feed Hungry Kids In Los Angeles

The initiative is part of Baird's nonprofit organization Support + Feed, which she founded in the wake of the pandemic to nourish families in need, support plant-based restaurants and their staff and spread awareness of the importance of a plant-based diet for the health of the planet. Even before the pandemic, Support + Feed says that Los Angeles County had the largest population in the country experiencing food insecurity: Nearly 450,000 people pre-coronavirus.

"We’re honored to partner with Support + Feed on their mission to feed hungry children this summer," said The Darkroom founder Justin Lubliner. "By delivering healthy vegan meals from local restaurants to child advocate organizations, they are helping lessen the impact that the pandemic has had on our most vulnerable. We’re so glad we can help them."

Support + Feed focuses on children and BIPOC communities, who are disproportionately affected by the hunger crisis. The organization says that BIPOC households face hunger at a rate more than twice that of white, non-Latinx households, and low-income and BIPOC communities have two to three times fewer options when it comes to healthy food compared to predominantly white neighborhoods.

"Support + Feed is doing important work to ensure some of the city’s most vulnerable children receive reliable healthy well-balanced meals throughout the summer," said Interscope Geffen A&M chairman and CEO John Janick. "Food security for children in our communities is of paramount importance, and Interscope is proud to offer our support to Maggie’s Support + Feed to provide healthy meal assistance to some of the city’s most dedicated organizations aiding children and families during these challenging times."
