Kevin Weatherly -- the longtime radio programmer for Los Angeles' KROQ alternative station -- has joined Spotify's editorial team as head of North American programming, the streaming platform confirmed.

Weatherly left his previous role as Entercom senior vp programming in late February. He first arrived at KROQ (which is now owned by Entercom) as program director in 1992, just in time for alt-rock's grunge movement. During his more than 25-year tenure, he brought in talent like radio personality Carson Daly and helped grow KROQ's annual "Weenie Roast" summer concert into a major annual event.

Entercom senior vp Mike Kaplan will take on Weatherly's duties while the search for a successor is underway.

Last week, Spotify added another new face to its editorial team: Rachel Whitney, who departed YouTube for a role as Spotify's head of editorial for Nashville.
