Tuesday (Nov. 19) night's X Ambassadors show at the Warfield in San Francisco wasn't just a regular concert – it wasn't even just a typical concert live stream. The Ithaca, NY rockers teamed with Synchrony Inside Tracks to use the live stream of their concert to raise money for SeriousFun Children's Network via a unique donation feature on the YouTube live stream that allowed fans to contribute as they watched. The YouTube, Facebook and Twitter broadcast attracted 18,000 simultaneous viewers and raised more than $25,000 for the charity during the live stream. With this event, Synchrony is the first brand to leverage the donation feature on a live stream, but surely won't be the last.
“We are excited to partner with Synchrony to live stream our San Francisco show and change what’s possible by raising funds for the SeriousFun Children’s Network," X Ambassadors frontman Sam Harris said ahead of the show. And it's not over yet; fans can contribute by watching the concert on YouTube and donating over the next three weeks.
This is hardly the band's first go-round for a good cause. Their August single "Optimistic," which speaks to gun violence in America, was paired with a donation to Everytown for Gun Safety.
