TaP Music Promotes Wendy Ong to Lead Management, Label Activities in U.S.

Veteran music marketing exec Wendy Ong has been elevated to president of TaP Management and TaP Records, U.S., it was announced Wednesday. Ong, who joined TaP Music in 2018 as head of marketing, will oversee all U.S.-related management and label activities, such as artist campaigns across the market.

“We’ve known and appreciated Wendy’s work for years,” shared co-CEO’s Ed Millett and Ben Mawson. “When an opportunity arose to have her join our team, we jumped. Now we’re thrilled to promote her to a position where she can continue to offer our artists the world-class service TaP is known for.”

Before joining TaP Music, Ong served as head of marketing at Roc Nation, where she worked on various campaigns for Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Jaden Smith and Rihanna’s lingerie lines, among others. She began her music business career in Singapore, at BMG, before relocating to the U.S. and working at various labels, including Arista, RCA, EMI, Capitol and Interscope, as well as the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.

Since forming a decade ago to work with Lana del Rey, TaP’s management roster has grown to include Dua Lipa, Hailee Steinfeld, DJ Shadow and Ellie Goulding, to name a few. It has since expanded from its management roots to include a full suite of music services, including label and publishing. Artists on the label include Barny Fletcher, Col3trane, Moby Rich and aboutagirl.

Ong is based out of TaP’s L.A. office. The company also has offices in London, Berlin and Sydney.
