Cara Donatto Joins Interscope Geffen A&M Records as EVP, Head of Media Strategy and Communications

Cara Donatto has been appointed executive vp, head of media strategy and communications for Interscope Geffen A&M Records. Donatto segues to the company from her most recent post as senior vp, publicity at Atlantic Records. Based at IGA’s headquarters in Los Angeles, Donatto will report to IGA chairman/CEO John Janick and vice chairman Steve Berman.

"I’ve known Cara for many years now and have seen firsthand what a powerful force she is in navigating the media and advocating for her artists," said Janick in a release announcing the appointment. "She is an important addition to our executive team."

Noted Berman, "This role is integral to the artist development that is at the foundation of everything we do. Cara has shown time and again how her savvy approach to nurturing artists helps to build long-lasting careers. We’re thrilled to have her join us at IGA."

During her Atlantic tenure, Donatto launched media campaigns on behalf of award-winning global stars such as Bruno Mars, Janelle Monáe and Missy Elliott. Donatto also served as director of media & artist relations at Island Def Jam Records prior to joining Atlantic. A summa cum laude graduate of Fordham University in New York, the Texas native started her career in magazine publishing as manager of publicity for Vibe and Spin.
