BERLIN – The board of the German Music Publishers Association (DMV) has appointed Birgit Böcher as the organization's new managing director. Böcher joined the DMV in 2004 and was upped to deputy managing director three years later. She replaces Dr. Heinz Stroh, who is vacating the role after three decades but will continue in a consultancy capacity.

"In her 15 years at the publishers association Birgit Böcher substantially contributed to the success of our association and set various new impulses," said association president Dr. Axel Sikorski. "We are very happy that she wants to meet the new challenge."

The association boasts a membership of more than 350 and represents 90% of Germany's publishing market. The members reached a total turnover of more than 690 million euro last year.
