“The best gift of the night was Gloria herself, who never ceases to inspire us all," says executive vp Michele Anthony.
On Tuesday, feminist icon Gloria Steinem rang in her 85th birthday in New York City at an intimate gathering with Universal Music Group to benefit her Ms. Foundation For Women, which builds women's collective power in the U.S. to advance equality and justice for all. There to celebrate with her a handful of music industry power players including UMG executive vp Michele Anthony, Capitol Music Group chief operating officer Michelle Jubelirer and classical violinist Ezinma, who has worked with Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, Yo Gotti, Mac Miller and more.
“The best gift of the night was Gloria herself, who never ceases to inspire us all," Anthony tells Billboard. "After we sang 'Happy Birthday,' Gloria brought together the 60 women who were there to celebrate her for one of her talking circles, reminding us of the power of being present, the importance of connecting and that being linked means so much more in life than being ranked.”
